    Western Washington University is offering a tenure-track position in
    Cognitive psychology beginning September 16, 2002. Salary
    competitive and dependent upon qualifications.

    Qualifications: Ph.D. completed by September 2002 in cognitive
    psychology or related area of psychology, evidence of successful
    teaching, an active research program in cognition that involves
    students, and a publication record commensurate with experience is
    required. Experience working with diverse students and faculty is
    desired. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to teach at both the
    undergraduate and master's degree level and have a commitment to
    excellence in teaching.

    Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach
    Cognition and Seminar in Cognition. Other undergraduate courses
    might include Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods and
    Statistics, Human Memory, Sensation and Perception, and courses in
    candidate's area of expertise.

    The University and the Department: The department has 25 permanent
    full-time faculty, including six counseling faculty. Programs
    include a B.A. in Psychology and three graduate programs; M.S.
    programs in both General Psychology and Mental Health Counseling and
    a M.Ed. in School Counseling (http://www.wwu.edu/~psych). Western
    Washington University is a public and regional institution with
    competitive admissions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels,
    approximately 12,000 students, and a strong emphasis on the liberal
    arts.

    Location: The University is located in Bellingham, Washington, a city
    of approximately 67,000. Situated in a scenic area between Seattle
    and Vancouver, British Columbia, the University offers easy access to
    major research libraries.
