    Research Assistant Position in the area of Psychophysical Studies of
    Color Vision and Visual Attention

    A full-time research assistant position is available in the laboratory
    of Allen Nagy in the Psychology Department at Wright State University in
    Dayton, OH. starting immediately. The position will continue at least
    until Sept., 2002 with the potential for further continuation. The
    research assistant will be involved in NIH-funded studies of mechanisms
    of human color vision and visual attention and the interactions between
    these mechanisms. The research assistant will participate in the design
    and conduction of psychophysical experiments, supervision of student
    workers, and the analysis of the results of these experiments.
    Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or a related
    field. A strong candidate must have good quantitative and communication
    skills and would have experience with and/or interest in at least some
    of the following areas: Psychology, Human Factors, experimental design,
    statistical analysis of data, computer programs for data analysis and
    graphing, computer programming. This position would be ideal for
    someone interested in future graduate training and a research oriented
    career in neuroscience, biomedical sciences, experimental psychology,
    human factors, or optometry and preference will be given to candidates
    with interests in these directions.

    The Psychology Dept. at Wright State University has a large
    undergraduate program and a growing graduate program in Human Factors/
    Industrial Organizational Psychology with strong ties to related
    research laboratories at nearby Wright Patterson Airforce Base. It
    would be possible for the research asssistant to complete some
    coursework in these programs or in other programs at Wright State in
    preparation for graduate training while working in the laboratory and
    such activities would be encouraged.
