Research Associate
One postdoctoral research associate position is available for a project
concerned with the functions and mechanisms of perceptual learning in
visual perception and cognition. The highly interdisciplinary project
combines methods from visual psychophysics, cognitive science, and
computational modeling, and includes an emphasis on multi-modal
environments. One of the goals is to understand the nature of plasticity
in human operators in relation to physiology and brain mechanisms, with
possible applications to special populations and training environments.
This multi-year project is funded for collaborative research in laboratories
at the Department of Psychology & Neuroscience Program, University of
Southern California and the Department of Cognitive Science, University of California,
Irvine. USC has active groups in vision and visual perception, and learning.
We seek candidates with a recent doctoral degree in visual perception,
learning, or related fields and with competence in psychophysics,
mathematical modeling, and/or computer programming. Candidates should send
a vita and the names of references. The initial appointment will be for
one year and can begin immediately, although the start date may be adjusted.
