Postdoctoral Fellowship in Color Vision Psychophysics

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Rhea Eskew,
starting immediately. The postdoc will be involved in NIH-funded
studies of visual adaptation, and of asymmetries in increment and
decrement detection by short-wave sensitive cones (see for example
McLellan & Eskew, Vision Research, 2000) and by the "red" and "green"
detection mechanisms. Some of the work will employ a novel method
based upon combining response time and threshold measurements.

The ideal candidate would have a strong background in visual
    psychophysics, computer programming experience, excellent
quantitative skills, an analytical approach to issues in perception,
and be able to write well in English. Real (as compared to ideal)
candidates would have at least some of these characteristics.

Northeastern University is located in downtown Boston, close to many
academic and cultural resources. Members of the vision group at
Northeastern (Eskew, Adam Reeves, and Frank Naarendorp) maintain
close ties with other vision researchers in the area, and there are
frequent colloquia and seminars within a short subway ride from
    Northeastern.

Applicants should send a c.v., a statement of research interests and
career goals, and two letters of reference, to Rhea Eskew at the
address below. Informal inquiries by email are welcome.

      Northeastern is an equal-opportunity employer.
