EPSRC Studentship — Colour Image Science
Applications are now being accepted for an EPSRC Studentship to be filled
after November 1st, 2001. This prestigious award will support the student
for the duration of a programme of research leading to a PhD degree. Any
suitable area of research will be considered within the general fields of
colour science and imaging science. The Colour & Imaging Institute is
Europe's leading research centre for colour science and image engineering.
The staff have strong expertise in vision science, colour measurement,
colour modelling, image processing, image quality assessment and
psychophysics. Research facilities include a suite of laboratories and
experimental rooms, with a wide range of colour measuring instruments and
colour imaging devices. Numerous collaborative projects are underway with

The Studentship will be for up to five years in length, depending on the
period required to complete the programme of research, and has a total
value of £22,196. Applicants must have a good first degree in a relevant
field of science or engineering. Applications from women and foreign
nationals are encouraged, but it is a strict requirement that the applicant
must have been resident in the UK for a minimum of three years in order to
qualify (EPSRC rules). The deadline for all applications is 10th December 2001.
The application should include:
- a letter of intent which includes your experience, interests and
goals;
- curriculum vitae;
- names of two referees;
- transcripts of higher education; and
- TOEFL scores for English fluency, if applicable.
