Faculty Position in Division of Engineering
Computer Vision / Multimedia Signal Processing
The Division of Engineering at Brown University announces the opening of a
tenure-track faculty position in Electrical Sciences and Computer
Engineering, beginning September 1, 2002. We expect the appointment to be
made at the Assistant Professor level; however, an appointment at the level
of Associate Professor, with or without tenure, is possible for a candidate
with exceptional qualifications.
Qualifications include a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Electrical
Engineering, Computer Science, Neural Sciences, or Applied Mathematics, and
significant research accomplishments in the area of computer vision or
multimedia signal processing. Representative areas of interest include, but
are not limited to, the mathematical modeling and analysis (deterministic or
stochastic) of sensor data and object and scene geometry; as well as the
development of vision-related sensor and signal processing systems.
Applications in such areas as medical imaging, indexing into image
databases, multisensor systems, multimedia signal and information handling,
or other image acquistion and analysis systems are of particular interest.
The appointee will be expected to be an important contributor to the
existing active research program in computer vision in the Division of
Engineering and other departments at Brown. The appointee will be expected
to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the appropriate area of
specialty in Electrical or Computer Engineering as well as in the core
curriculum of the Division.
