Research Officer  - Effects of learning on human colour vision

Salary: up to £19,040  per annum

Applications are invited for a Research Officer to work on an ESRC project from 15th April 2005 to 14th April 2006 under the supervision of Dr Paul Sowden and Prof Ian Davies.  The research will explore the effects of learning on human colour perception and the extent to which language can influence learning.

The postholder will be responsible for setting-up laboratory experiments to measure colour vision, recruiting and testing participants, analysing data and writing-up results.  There may also be an opportunity to take part in field work in Namibia.
 
Applicants are invited from candidates with (or about to have) first or higher degrees in subjects related to aspects of cognitive neuroscience including psychology, computing, biological sciences, linguistics and engineering.  Applicants should have knowledge and skills in at least one of the following areas: computer programming; visual psychophysics; experimental psychology.  Applicants will be expected to demonstrate an interest in human visual perception.
