The Department of Optometry, within the School of Physics, is the national centre for the education of Optometrists.  Currently it is at an advanced stage in the development of an ambitious state-of-the-art clinical facility and research unit that will contribute strongly to the advancement of the profession in Ireland.  As part of this development, applications are invited for the following permanent full-time post.

 

Head of Department of Optometry, Senior Lecturer II
 

The Head of Department will provide leadership in the growth of the educational, clinical and research work of the department.  As well as administering the taught programmes and research activities of the department, s/he will also have overall responsibility for the new clinical facility where the clinic manager, to be appointed, will report to her/him.  Candidates with a strong reputation in clinical Optometry and/or a track record of postgraduate research supervision and obtaining research funding, together with energy, initiative, ambition and creativity, are encouraged to apply.  A postgraduate degree in Optometry and eligibility to register to practice within Ireland are prerequisites.

Salary scale, €68.7k - €88.3k
