Workshop on “Bridging the gap between sensation and motor control: from
computation to behavior”

Castle of Rauischholzhausen, Germany, July 13 to 16, 2006

Traditionally, research in sensory processing and motor control has followed
parallel but generally independent paths. Recent work, however, has highlighted
the importance of studying these as part of an integrated sensori-motor system
rather than as separate processing modules in the brain.

This workshop will focus particularly on applying computational concepts and
models to human sensori-motor behavior. The workshop aims to promote the
exchange of ideas to begin to build a community of researchers with a broader
understanding of the computational issues that arise when using sensory
information to plan and execute execution of natural motor tasks. Individual
sessions during the day will cover topics such as Sensory Feedback Control,
Sensorimotor coordinate transformations, Statistical and Bayesian Decision
Theory, Learning and Adaptation.

Selected participants will be able to present and discuss their own work. A
limited number of travel fellowships are available. Travel fellowships will
cover meeting registration and room and board expenses (500 EUR).
