Ph.D. position: Study of neural plasticity and cortical reorganization
following visual system injury

A graduate student position has opened up at the Max Planck Institute for
Biological Cybernetics, Tuebingen, Germany. The project in question focuses
on the study of neural plasticity and cortical reorganization following
visual system injury. State of the art functional magnetic resonance imaging
methods will be used to study a cohort of carefully selected patients with
lesions of the visual pathway. The opportunity exists to run a parallel
comparative study in non-human primates. This project is under the joint
supervision of Drs Nikos K. Logothetis (MPI for Biological Cybernetics) and
Stelios Smirnakis (Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, USA).

Desired Experience: The candidate is expected to have a strong quantitative
background and experience with programming, ideally in MATLAB. A strong
background in biology and prior experience with imaging is desirable.

Contact: Interested parties should e-mail a brief description of their
interests and their CV, to Dr. Smirnakis at ssmirnakis at cns.bcm.edu
