Research Project Support Officer (Ref 09-9/88)
Grade 6 point 22 - 25 £23,449 - £25,623 p.a.
Applications are invited for a full time fixed term (36 months)
Research Support Officer working on an ESRC/EPSRC co-funded project
entitled ?An investigation of fixational eye movement patterns during
three-dimensional object recognition? awarded to Dr. Charles Leek
(P.I., School of Psychology), Dr. Stephen Johnston (School of
Psychology) and Dr. Ik Soo Lim (School of Computer Science).
This innovative project involves using eye tracking and other
perceptual/behavioural methods to elucidate shape processing
mechanisms in human vision during object perception and recognition.
This post should particularly suit candidates with an undergraduate or
master?s degree in psychology, cognitive neuroscience or related
field. The successful applicant will be involved in setting-up a
programme of behavioural research, recruiting and testing
participants, data analysis and project write-ups. No previous
experience in using eye tracking equipment is required as appropriate
training will be provided. Some experience setting up and running
studies in visual perception (e.g., using E-Prime) would be an
advantage. A keen interest in vision and human perception is essential.
The post will start on 1st March 2010 or as soon as possible
thereafter, and continue for three years. Interviews will be held on
8th February 2010.
