Second Call for Papers
Ophthalmic and Physiological Optics is soliciting papers for a feature
issue on:
"The Role of Vision in Everyday Activities"
Deadline for submission: September 1, 2010
A feature issue provides the opportunity for your work to be published
alongside papers with a similar subject matter. Past feature issues
have included a number of important and highly cited papers. It is
intended for the feature issue to reflect the considerable research
activity outlining the role of vision in everyday activities. In
particular, we are interested in manuscripts on the following topics
that relate to the link between visual function and everyday
activities such as driving, mobility, balance control, falls, reading,
face perception and other important functional tasks.
The types of research could include:
Epidemiology studies, experimental studies, or survey-based designs.
The topics could include:
Studies that explore the relationship between vision and driving.
Studies quantifying the link between vision and falls, gait, mobility-
orientation or balance.
Studies on vision and reading, including the development and
evaluation of interventions to improve reading in persons who are
visually impaired.
The Guest Editors are three of the leading international researchers
in this area:
Professors Joanne Wood, School of Optometry and Institute of Health
and Biomedical Innovation, Queensland University of Technology
Brisbane, Australia
Cynthia Owsley, Department of Ophthalmology, University of Alabama at
Birmingham, Birmingham, Alabama, USA
Gary Rubin, UCL, Institute of Ophthalmology, UK
Professor Wood is the lead Guest Editor and will coordinate review of
submitted articles in conjunction with the Editor-in-Chief and
Managing Editor.
