[visionlist] Postdoctoral Position at UPenn: Analyze Medical Images to Advance Personalized Medicine

A postdoctoral position in medical image analysis is available at the 
Section of Biomedical Image Analysis (SBIA) of the Department of 
Radiology, University of Pennsylvania. SBIA has been a dynamically 
growing medical image analysis group, including 30 researchers and many 
collaborators from diverse fields. Our newest effort is to enhance 
personalized medicine by creating a comprehensive and robust methodology 
for automatically quantifying and generalizing the information latent in 
images for tasks such as disease analysis and surgical planning.

The position will support our efforts in advancing personalized medicine 
by developing novel methods for analyzing MR or CT scans for 
applications in neuroscience, cardiology, and oncology. Possible 
research topics include but are not limited to exploring parameters of 
registration algorithms, segmenting longitudinal medical scans, 
capturing the shape of organs in the torso.  We are seeking highly 
motivated individuals who have demonstrated academic excellence, 
including publications in first-class journals and conferences. 
Successful candidates should have a PhD (or equivalent) in Computer 
Science, Applied Mathematics/Statistics, Electrical or Biomedical 
Engineering, or related field.Competence in programming beyond Matlab is 
essential. Experience in medical image analysis, machine learning, and 
probabilistic modelling is highly desirable. Starting date for the 
position is within the next three month.
