The Department of Neurophysics at the Philipps-Universität Marburg,
Germany, is hiring a *Postdoc* starting October, 15th 2010 or earliest
possible date for a period of 1 year with a possible extension for a
second year. The position is funded through a scholarship by the
Philipps-University.
The successful applicant will establish a lab for EEG recordings to
complement the Department's methodological repertoire (e.g.,
electrophysiology, eye-tracking, psychophysics, fMRI, modeling).
Experience in setting up and operating EEG equipment as well as in
analyzing the resulting data with state-of-the-art analysis techniques
are essential. The ideal candidate has a background in physics or
related discipline and experience and willingness to participate in the
department's teaching activities. The applicant needs to be able to work
and pursue scientific questions with a high degree of independence.
Since close methodological and conceptual interactions with other
research at the department are expected, the applicant should express
interest and have experience in one or more of the following fields
covered at the Neurophysics department: space perception, visual
attention, object recognition, crossmodal interactions, computational
models of vision, or decision-making. Formal prerequisites include a PhD
or equivalent degree.
The department provides lab-space designed specifically for EEG
recordings (including electrical shielding, DC lighting, acoustic
isolation, etc.) as well as funding for the acquisition of an EEG
recording setup and related equipment. Provided successful acquisition
of additional funding, an extension beyond the initial 1 or 2-year
period is possible. Additional information on the research of the
Department of Neurophysics can also be obtained at the department's
website: http://www.neurophysics.de. In case of questions regarding the
department or the position, please contact Wolfgang Einhäuser-Treyer
(wet at physik.uni-marburg.de) and/or Frank Bremmer
(frank.bremmer at physik.uni-marburg.de).
The Philipps-University Marburg strives for an increase in the number of
women in academic employment. Women are therefore especially encouraged
to apply and will be preferentially considered under the condition of
equal qualification. Disabled candidates are given a preference under
the provision of equal qualification.
Send your application, including the names of two references, as
pdf-file by email to the office of the Dept. of Neurophysics, Mrs. S.
Thomas (thomas at staff.uni-marburg.de), no later than September 15, 2010
(later applications may be considered until the position is filled).
