[visionlist] VSS 2011 Membership, Registration and Abstract Submissions Now Open

Greetings from VSS:

 

The VSS 2011 Online System is now open, allowing you to renew your
membership, register for the 2011 meeting, and submit abstracts. Only
members can submit an abstract for the 2011 meeting. Membership also
provides discounted registration rates. 

 

Below are a few significant changes that you should be aware of: 

 

.         In the past, VSS accepted virtually all submitted abstracts. Now
space constraints and a desire to enhance the quality of the meeting have
led us to decide to reject a small percentage of abstracts. Starting this
year, ALL abstracts will be evaluated by at least one reviewer and by
members of the Board of Directors. We anticipate about 10% of the abstracts
will be rejected. 

 

The following criteria will be used to reject abstracts: 1) abstracts that
fall outside the scope of VSS; 2) abstracts that are difficult or impossible
to understand; 3) abstracts that repeat relevant and well-known literature;
4) abstracts in which the methods are flawed or lack results.

 

.         To eliminate the time and confusion of paying three items
(membership, registration and abstract submission), we have eliminated the
separate payment of the abstract submission fee. This fee is now rolled into
the membership and registration rates. 

 

.         Lastly, at the September Board of Directors meeting, it was
decided to raise the annual membership and registration rates. VSS has not
raised rates since 2008. The rates will increase $10 across the board,
averaging out to a 6% increase.

information in your profile (email address, affiliation, etc.).

The deadline for Abstract Submissions is December 1, 2010. 

The deadline for Early Meeting Registration is February 24, 2011.
