THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY invites applications for two
Professor of Clinical Optometry faculty positions from academically
qualified clinicians.The Professor of Clinical Optometry (PCO) series is
a non-tenure-track Academic Senate series for individuals whose
predominant responsibilities are in teaching and clinical service, and
who also engage in research or other creative scholarly activities
(e.g., participation in clinical investigations, innovation in clinical
care or professional practice, development of novel teaching methods).
Superior intellectual attainment, as evidenced both in teaching and in
research or other creative achievement, is an indispensable
qualification for appointment. We are seeking clinicians who can bring
up-to-date science to the clinic, and teachers who can bring clinical
relevance and wisdom to the classroom. The search is an open search at
the level of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor of Clinical
Optometry, depending on experience.
Candidates should have an O.D. or M.D. (or equivalent training), and
three or more years of post-O.D. or M.D. experience, a record of
excellence in teaching, evidence of a high level of competence in a
clinical specialty, and substantial evidence of research or other
creative scholarship.Successful applicants will be expected to teach
professional level courses, actively participate in clinical training
and teaching and to be productive in scholarly activities.Appointees are
expected to participate in investigation in basic, applied or clinical
sciences.

clinical, professional and scholarly interests and future
