[visionlist] 3M Vision Scientist Position

3M is in the process of expanding our Vision Science group and we are 
looking for recent Ph.D. or MA graduate students to apply for our Vision 
Science position.

You may be wondering what a vision scientist might do at 3M.  A large part 
of 3M's product portfolio is in the area of light management.  Everything 
from retro-reflective technology to the mini-projector (
http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Pocket/Projector/ ),  new 
glasses free 3D displays (
http://www.slashgear.com/3m-adhesive-film-creates-glasses-free-3d-displays-0362652/ 
) and the films that manage light in LCD displays.  It is literally a 
vision science playground.

We are looking for students that have a good vision science background 
that is supported by computer vision techniques.

3M Corporate SEMS Laboratory is seeking an  entry level MS/PhD Vision 
Scientist to work on the 3M campus in Maplewood, MN.  The successful 
candidate will be responsible for designing experiments, collecting data, 
analyzing data and summarizing the results in presentations and papers
 
Examples of activities and skills include but are not limited to:
 
? Applying visual psychophysics techniques and/or known research to 
understand fundamental perceptual properties to light management, display, 
and graphics problems
?  Adapting computational vision models of the human visual system to 3M 
light management product that will improve existing products and/or 
generate new 3M light management products.

Qualifications
 
Basic Qualifications:
 
·         MS  in Vision Science
·         Accumlative GPA of  3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
PhD in Vision Science
Expertise in Vision Science sub-disciplines such as: Color vision, Stereo 
vision, Motion Perception, Spatial Vision, Computer Vision
Motion Perception, Spatial Vision, Computer Vision. Involvement in product 
development, research and support of 3M's business units in the areas of 
light management, visual perception and general human factor
