A postdoctoral position in retinal neuroscience is available in the Unit on Retinal Neurophysiology, National Eye Institute. Our lab conducts research on retinal synapses, circuits and their functions in visual signal processing. Ongoing and future research subjects include: 1) Color vision: retinal circuits involved in the processing of the S-cone signals. 2) Hibernation: adaptive changes of synaptic structures and functions in the ground squirrel retina. Candidates with expertise in these areas are encouraged to apply: patch clamp recording, two-photon live cell/tissue imaging, MEA, and modeling. Programming experience with Igor Pro, Metlab, or C++ is highly desirable. Salary will be commensurate with level of experience according to NIH guidelines (http://oma.od.nih.gov/manualchapters/person/2300-320-7/Appendices/PD10.PDF). The National Institutes of Health host one of the largest neuroscience research centers. The NEI has state-of-the-art core facilities including imaging, genetic engineering, and virus delivery facilities. The overall resources and training opportunities are superb.
