Technology was started at IIT Kharagpur with the objective to provide a
platform of interdisciplinary teaching and research in diverse areas of
medical science and technology. The School has collaboration with some of
the best medical research institutes and medical industries from all over
the world. Our vision is to have a medical academic institute with a
multi-specialty research centre at its core with the motto of education and
collaboration for biomedical research and development alongside treatment
and healthcare delivery to the patients. The School has a number of
well-equipped state-of-the-art laboratories and is supported by an excellent
faculty, in addition to many other faculty members from different

Kharagpur or IIT KGP) is an autonomous engineering, technology and
management oriented institute of higher education established by the
Government of India in 1951. The first of the original five IITs to be
established, it is officially recognised as an Institute of National
Importance by the Government of India and is regarded as one of the best
engineering institutions in India. IIT Kharagpur was established to train
scientists and engineers after India attained independence in 1947. It
shares its organisational structure and undergraduate admission process with
sister IITs.With 19 Departments, 8 Multidisciplinary Schools, 13 Centres of
Excellence, Campus area of 8.5 square kilometers, and 850 Sponsored Research
Projects worth INR 3 billion, we are the largest of the fraternity.
