Postdoctoral Position at the University of Göttingen
in Retinal Neurophysiology / Computational Neuroscience

A postdoctoral research positions is available in the research group of Prof.
Tim Gollisch at the University Medical Center Göttingen, Germany. The
position is funded through the Collaborative Research Center
("Sonderforschungsbereich") 889, which has recently been established in
Göttingen and will provide a lively and integrative platform for
investigating neuronal processing in sensory systems.

The research group of Prof. Gollisch studies sensory processing and neural
coding in the retinal network with a combination of electrophysiological and
computational approaches. Experimental methods include extracellular
multi-electrode array recordings, intracellular whole-cell patch-clamp
recordings, and two-photon calcium imaging in the isolated, whole-mount
retina of mice and amphibians. All recordings are performed while the retina
is stimulated with various visual patterns. A strong focus of the group is to
combine these experiments with state-of-the-art tools for data analysis and
modeling. For more information about the group, see
http://retina.uni-goettingen.de.

We are looking for a highly motivated scientist with a good background in
electrophysiology or computational neuroscience. In particular, a strong
interest in combining experimental and computational tools to neuroscience is
required. Applicants should have a PhD in neuroscience, biology, physics, or
a related area and a publication record indicating the potential to develop
independent research.

For more information or to apply, please send an email to Prof. Tim Gollisch
(tim.gollisch at med.uni-goettingen.de) and include a CV, contact information
for two or three references, and a statement about your motivations and
research interests. Applications of female applicants are particularly
encouraged according to the equal-opportunity concept of the CRC 889.
