COMPUTER SCIENTIST, Computer Vision
Aralia Systems Ltd, Horsham, West Sussex
Salary £30,000
3 year fixed term contract

Aralia Systems provides advanced intelligent video surveillance solutions. Aralia's software capability is unique, providing an advanced ability to detect, recognize, track, search, and analyse incidents. Aralia's solutions offer great benefits to existing or new CCTV systems and allow customers to store data and do rapid retrospective searching about an event, object, or person.

A unique opportunity has arisen for a recent postgraduate to work on a joint project, under the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programme, between Aralia Systems Ltd and the University of the West of England. The project aims to develop new 3D computer vision techniques and algorithms for measuring and analysing audience behaviours in cinemas; with the aim of increasing sales by enhancing the scene analysis capabilities of Aralia's systems for assessing viewer behaviour.

Employed by UWE you will be based full time at Aralia in Horsham, West Sussex. You will work closely with researchers from UWE's innovative Machine Vision Laboratory to develop new algorithms and apply these to enhance the capability of Aralia's software.

The role offers a chance to gain experience working in a dynamic international business including the opportunity for international travel.

The ideal candidate will have an upper second class or higher first degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related subject. A Doctorate qualification (awarded within last 5 years) is preferred; software skills and a theoretical background is essential. Experience in Computer Vision particularly with programming in face recognition, tracking or behaviour analysis algorithms is desired but not essential. You must be self directed and willing to travel between two places of work, and internationally as required. Ability to work effectively in a team is essential, as are strong problem solving, planning and communication skills.
