We are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and highly motivated individual to work within the Neural and Visual Control of Movement group of our Research Institute. You will work on a project exploring the underlying mechanisms and effectiveness of a promising intervention method ('mirror therapy') to facilitate improvement of upper limb function in children with cerebral palsy.
Your work will involve both the organization of the home-based intervention study, including follow-up visits to the participant, and the experimental work in
the motor control lab. You should therefore have good organisational and interpersonal skills and be able to work with minimum supervision.
Applicants should preferentially have a PhD in a relevant area of Human Movement Science, Physical or Occupational Therapy, Neuroscience or a related field. Applicants with a Masters in any of these fields or substantial relevant experience, who have a strong research background will also be considered. Appropriate experience in basic lab techniques involving collection and analysis of kinematics and electromyography is strongly required

Experience with clinical therapeutic interventions is an advantage, although not a prerequisite. We welcome applications of both individuals with expertise and training in clinical practice and individuals with expertise in the research field.

Applications should include your CV, a cover letter and contact details of 2 referees. For an informal discussion regarding the requirements of the role please contact Dr. Frederik Deconinck (f.deconinck at mmu.ac.uk<mailto:f.deconinck at mmu.ac.uk>)
