Senior Research Technician

We seek an experienced and motivated research technician to join a team of vision scientists working on on colour vision, glare, attention and vision, parallel pressing, binocular summation, mesopic vision and early detection of retinal and optic nerve disease using advanced vision and optometric tests.  The job is ideal for someone with a strong interest in specialised equipment and involves the design, construction, calibration and testing of apparatus for new vision research studies.

The work involves requires basic optical, mechnaical engineering and electronics skills. Common sense, punctuallity, adherence to normal working hours and ability to work both independently and with research students are also important. The successful applicant will be given the opportunity to contribute to the design of experiments and the analysis and interpretation of results.

We will consider applicants with relevant technical experience / skills in vision research, optics instrumentation for vision research, optometric research, illumination engineering, or visual psychophysics.

>From time to time the job holder will also be required to help with some aspects of the teaching programme, the organising of experimental rooms, the acquisition and maintenance of equipment and the setting up of experimental demonstrations.
