Four post-doctoral positions in neuroscience of attention and visual
cognition

In conjunction with a major initiative in cognitive neuroscience and
neuroimaging at the University of South Carolina, four post-doctoral
research positions are available to work with John Henderson and Chris
Rorden on attention and visual cognition in the Department of Psychology
and the McCausland Center for Brain Imaging. Post-docs will have access
to state-of-the-art facilities including a 3T Siemens Trio scanner, TMS
(with MR guided neuronavigation), high-density ERP, transcranial direct
current stimulation (tDCS) and eyetracking. Candidates with a PhD in any
of the cognitive sciences broadly defined (e.g., Psychology,
Neuropsychology, Neuroscience, Computer Science, Neurology or a related
field) are welcome to apply. Experience with fMRI experimental design,
data collection, and data analysis is necessary, and working knowledge
of Matlab is highly desirable. Our projects examine brain function in
both healthy individuals and those who have suffered brain injury, so
the ability to communicate and work with a team is necessary. Salary
will be at NIH post-doctoral rates and commensurate with experience.
Initial appointments will be for one or two years with opportunity for
extension to three years.

The University of South Carolina is the flagship research institution in
the state. The Department of Psychology has 35 tenure/tenure-track
faculty and research emphases in cognitive, quantitative, cognitive
neuroscience, developmental neuroscience, and behavioral neuroscience
within the Experimental Psychology PhD program. The McCausland Center
for Brain Imaging is a fully resourced interdisciplinary imaging center
dedicated to research. Columbia is the largest city in South Carolina,
located in the geographic center of the state. It is within easy reach
of the mountains and the ocean, and has a pleasant year-round climate
and an affordable cost of living. The University of South Carolina is an
affirmative action, equal opportunity employer. Women and minorities are
encouraged to apply. The University of South Carolina does not
discriminate in educational or employment opportunities or decisions for
qualified persons on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national
origin, age, disability, sexual orientation or veteran status.

Informal inquiries may be addressed to John Henderson
(john.henderson at sc.edu) or Chris Rorden (rordenc at mailbox.sc.edu). Formal
applications should include an up-to-date CV, a statement of research
interests, and the names and contact details of three referees and be
sent to Vicki Lewter (lewterv at mailbox.sc.edu). Applications will be
assessed as they arrive until the positions are filled. Starting date is
flexible.
