Dear moderators,
Please post
EEG signals processing: Galway
Date, time: 11th of March, 9am to 12 noon
Location: Cois Abhann Computer laboratory, School of Psychology, NUI
Galway, Galway, Ireland
Expert: Dr. Walter Gruber, University of Salzburg, Austria
Cost: Free, but please give advance notice of intent to attend. The room
concerned is large enough but if we are oversubscribed we may have to
advise people not attend (due to fire safety regulations)
Note: we do not advise on accommodation or flights/transport to Galway
Dr. Gruber will review concepts in EEG-signal processing (e.g.,
filtering, Fourier transform and wavelet filtering) and guide
participants through a number of potential analyses of EEG data.
What do i need to know? Basic knowledge of EEG (essential), experience
using Matlab will be useful to work through examples (desirable)
Block I: 09:00 - 10:30
* Signal to noise ratio and EEG data
* Basic concepts of filtering raw data
* Ocular correction
* Artifact removal
* Re-referencing
* Segmentation of EEG-Data
* Averages - do they really show the "components" of an EEG-signal?
* EEG-signal in the time domain - what does it really tell us?
* EEG-signal in the frequency domain - the missing link to
understand EEG?
* EEG-signal in the time/frequency domain - what does Heisenberg
think of it?
Coffee (10:30 - 10:45)
Block II: 10:45 - 12:15
* Evoked Power, Whole Power, ERS/ERD
* Oscillations
* Single trial analysis
* Oscillation and phase
* Matlab and EEG-processing
