Please post this post-doctoral offer. Thank you.

The Visual Neuroscience laboratory (http://www.opto.umontreal.ca/neurosciences/) of the School of Optometry (http://www.opto.umontreal.ca/) at the Université de Montréal is searching for a post-doctoral fellow to study in vivo the functional organization of the transthalamic cortico-cortical pathways involving the pulvinar nuclei. Functional cortical maps acquired by optical imaging (intrinsic and VSD) are studied in various experimental conditions (e.g., selective activations or deactivations of brain regions involved in these pathways by electrical, pharmacological or optogenetic modulation) to determine the nature of the signals transmitted from the pulvinar to the visual cortex.

Successful candidates should have a strong background in System Neuroscience (ideally in vision) and imaging and have computer skills (e.g., Matlab). Knowledge of neurophysiology methods (single cell recordings) and signal analysis is desirable. Candidates are expected to supervise the work of lab students.

The Visual Neuroscience laboratory is funded by CIHR, NSERC and NIH. It is part of the Research Group in Visual Science of the Université de Montréal which comprises researchers working in complementary domains (molecular biology, pharmacology, neuroanatomy, psychophysics, brain imaging, and biomedical engineering). Montreal is the largest city in Quebec and is renowned worldwide for its large community of vision researchers. This city has a unique French culture and features low cost of housing, and several cultural and recreational activities.

Job is available immediately, duration is 3 years and starting annual salary is 35,000$.

Candidates should email a C.V., a letter of intent, and the names and e-mail of three references before April 16 to Christian Casanova at christian.casanova at umontreal.ca
