The German Association for Pattern Recognition (DAGM) announces its 33rd
Annual Pattern Recognition Symposium to be held this time in Frankfurt
am Main, Germany. The conference addresses recent advances in theory,
methodology and applications in the fields of computer vision, pattern
recognition and machine learning.

As an extraordinary feature of DAGM 2011, the conference will be held
parallel to and in conjunction with the 35th annual conference of the
German Classification Society (GfKL, Gesellschaft fuer Klassifikation).

Authors are invited to submit full-length, high-quality papers
presenting previously unpublished work directly related to the key
subjects of the conference. Submitted papers will be reviewed based on
the criteria originality, soundness, presentation, and empirical
evaluation. All papers will be *doubly blind* reviewed, normally by
three members of the programme committee. DAGM is a single track meeting
with oral and poster presentations and will include several keynote
presentations and tutorials. The conference language for all papers
and contributions is English.

We invite authors to submit papers related (but not limited) to the topics:

     * Image Analysis and Computer Vision
     * Machine Learning and Pattern Recognition
     * Mathematical Foundations of Pattern Recognition
       in Man and Machine, Statistical Data Analysis and Models
     * Applications in Nature Sciences and Engineering
     * Industrial Applications (e.g. Driver Assistance, Surveillance,
       Robot Navigation, Production Technology)
     * Bio-inspired Computer Vision and Biomedical Data Analysis and Imaging

PAPER SUBMISSION

The proceedings will be published by Springer in the Lecture Notes in
Computer Science (LNCS) series. The review process will be double blind.
Papers will be allocated 10 pages and have to follow the Springer LNCS
style. The best contributions will receive DAGM awards.

We also invite contributions to the DAGM Young Researchers Forum where
young scientists can present outstanding achievements from their studies
towards the Bachelors', Diplom or Masters' degree, or during the first
year following graduation. Details on how to contribute to the
DAGM Young Researchers Forum are available on the DAGM 2011
website.

ADVERSE VISION CONDITIONS CHALLENGE  (AVCC)
========================================================================

The 2011 DAGM conference hosts an extra challenge which focuses on the
application of modern computer vision to realistic image data as it is
ubiquitous in applications such as driver assistance, outdoor
navigation, etc. By centering on 'adverse vision conditions', the AVCC
sets a contrast to the choice of small sets of selected image data for
evaluating algorithms and systems, as it is still predominant in many
areas of computer vision. The AVCC is supported by Daimler Research.

Each AVCC contribution should focus on new and innovative methods which
are robust to adverse vision conditions, such as strong rain, snow, back
light, or other bad illumination conditions, preferably in a driver
assistance scenario. The formal conditions for papers targeting the AVCC
are identical to those for regular DAGM papers, but they have to address
explicitly at least one of the following tasks
     * Optical Flow
     * Stereo
     * Scene Flow
     * Ego motion computation
     * Segmentation
     * Object Detection
     * 3D-Modeling
     * Tracking
     * Free-Space Analysis
The contribution has to show the validity of the proposed method on at
least one of the sequences which will be provided on the AVCC web site.

Authors who intend to participate to AVCC should submit a regular DAGM
2011 paper and indicate that it is meant as a contribution to AVCC 2011.

A jury of experts from academia and industry will select the best
contribution that qualifies for the AVCC and nominate the paper and its
authors for the 2011 AVCC award.

available on the DAGM 2011 website.
