The Division of Extramural Research, National Eye Institute, National Institutes of Health has openings for scientists to manage programs in these three major areas:.

Fundamental Retinal Processes:  Requires working with a team of scientists within the Retinal Diseases Program.  Involves independent management of a portfolio of science that includes phototransduction and cell biology.  A successful individual must have a track record of publications and research in one or more of the following: cell biology, developmental biology, structural biology, and/or neurobiology.

Ocular Infection, Inflammation, and Immunology: Requires working with program officials managing scientifically diverse portfolios. Involves independent management of a portfolio of science that includes immunologic, inflammatory, and infectious processes underlying the pathogenesis of ocular diseases.  A successful individual must have a track record of publications and research in microbiology and/or immunology.

Collaborative Clinical Research:  Requires working with a team of scientists to manage and direct a portfolio of clinical trials and epidemiology projects.  A successful individual will have experience in collaborative, multi-disciplinary research that may include epidemiology, clinical trials, health services research or genetic epidemiology.

This position is subject to a background investigation.  Applicants must be U.S. citizens with an advanced degree (Ph.D./MD or equivalent) along with relevant independent research.  The position is located in Bethesda, Maryland.  Salary and benefits will be commensurate with your experience.
