Dear all,

In response to the recent earthquake and disaster in Japan the Association
for the Scientific Study of Consciousness (ASSC) has set up a web page were
people can request or offer assistance of any kind.

With the increasing threat of nuclear radiation, it has come to our
attention that individuals may need to evacuate their homes. If you live in
Japan or anywhere else in the world and may be able to offer
accommodation/resources/advice for any individual or an entire family, this
page will allow you to reach those in need. Please be as concise as possible
but also provide as much information as required to help those who are in
need and to allow them to contact you. Similarly if you have a specific
need, please provide as much detail as possible about your need. For example
if you have one room available that would be suitable for a student or an
entire house suitable for a family, please specify that and the details
about the location etc.

This page is open to anyone in need of help or anyone willing to offer
assistance, however, as this is being circulated through academic lists it
might be good to think about possible assistance that might be of particular
value to students and academics. For example, if you could support a student
or a senior researcher on a short term research fellowship in your lab, this
could be of great value to many people that will have access to this cite.
Or if you could provide access to facilities that would allow people to
continue to work outside of their homes for some weeks, then this might also
be very useful.
