POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN VISUAL PERCEPTION UNIVERSITY OF
NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA

A post-doctoral position in the general area of stereoscopic vision is
available at the University of New South Wales in the School of
Psychology. It is funded by an Australian Research Council Grant to
Professor Barbara Gillam and Associate -Professor Stephen Palmisano to
investigate the role of unpaired (e.g.monocularly occluded) elements
in stereoscopic depth perception. Another aim is to use unpaired
regions as a paradigm to explore non-local influences on binocular
processes such as depth adaptation/after-effects and binocular
rivalry. We seek someone with imagination and initiative with a
background in visual psychophysics to participate in this research.
Good verbal and programming skills are essential.
Our well-equipped laboratory already has most of the apparatus and
some of the software needed for this research.
UNSW is one of Australia’s premier universities located in the heart
of Sydney. The School of Psychology is ranked regularly as one of the
two or three top research departments in the country. Both UNSW and
the Sydney area generally have a vibrant vision community
This is a fixed term full-time position available for one year with
possible renewal for a second year.
Salary Package : Approx. A$90,000 + attractive conditions.
