Tue Apr 5 23:45:44 GMT 2011
Postdoctoral Position Available
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Russell
Epstein at the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of
Pennsylvania. Funding for this position comes from the Spatial
Intelligence and Learning Center (SILC), an NSF-supported project that
brings together researchers from several institutions and disciplines.
The successful applicant will work on fMRI studies of spatial
navigation, with the aim of understanding how large-scale environments
are encoded in the human brain and how spatial representations vary
with experience and navigational ability. Although the position is
based at Penn, it is expected that the applicant will also forge
collaborations with SILC faculty at other institutions, including
Temple University, Northwestern, and the University of Chicago.
Previous fMRI experience and some degree of computational/mathematical
sophistication is desirable; a strong interest in spatial cognition is
essential. The Center for Cognitive Neuroscience has recently moved
into new facilities and is a lively, friendly, collaborative
environment. Philadelphia is a vibrant, affordable, cosmopolitan
city. To apply, send a brief statement of interest, CV, and contact
information for three references to Russell Epstein,

Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
