Applications are invited for two funded PhD studentships/teaching fellowships, offered by the University of Stirling, starting in October 2011. Successful applicants will work in the Vision Lab at the School of Natural Sciences (Psychology). Ongoing research in the Vision Lab focuses on the perception of cyclopean form, perceptual grouping, scene segmentation, binocular vision and depth perception.
Potential applicants should contact Dr Ross Goutcher (ross.goutcher at stir.ac.uk) or Prof Roger Watt (r.j.watt at stir.ac.uk) to register an interest and discuss possible projects. We encourage applications from students who expect to obtain a First or Upper Second class Honours degree, or equivalent, in Psychology or a related discipline, or who already have an MSc.
Research in Psychology is supported by state-of-the-art facilities, including an in-house playgroup for developmental research, human electrophysiological recording and analysis facilities, and expertise in computational modelling. There are excellent facilities for postgraduate students, including allocated office space, equipment and conference funding.
Applicants will be expected to pursue an element of external funding where feasible. The studentships will be fully funded, and successful applicants are expected to contribute towards teaching in Psychology.
For application procedures please see http://www.external.stir.ac.uk/postgrad/apply/index.php
or contact Linda Cullen (Linda.Cullen at stir.ac.uk)
The closing date for applications is 31st May 2011, but early application is strongly advised.
