Two Postdoctoral Positions in Human Neuroimaging of Reward, Risk and
Economic Decision-Making
University of Cambridge
We have two openings for postdoctoral candidates interested in event-related
fMRI in healthy humans and human patients, respectively. The anticipated
work is conceptually based on animal learning theory and economic decision
theory and includes the experimental analysis of human behaviour. Our
rationales, hypotheses, behavioural concepts and task designs are closely
related to parallel work using single neuron behavioural electrophysiology
in monkeys. Our projects benefit from standing collaborations with
experimental psychologists and behavioural economists in Cambridge and
abroad.
We seek applications from postdoctoral candidates with experience in
quantitative testing in controlled behavioural tasks and/or human
neuroimaging. Candidates experienced in primate behavioural neurophysiology
are also welcome.
One post will be for work in healthy humans and supervised by Wolfram
Schultz (for previous work, see http://www.pdn.cam.ac.uk/staff/schultz/).
Experienced applicants from all disciplines are welcome. The second post is
for work on drug applications and psychotic patients, for which we have a
well documented large patient pool, and is supervised by Paul Fletcher (for
previous work, see http://www-bmu.psychiatry.cam.ac.uk/people/pcf22/).
Experienced applicants with a medical degree are particularly welcome to
apply for the clinical post. For both posts, additional experience with
advanced statistics, reinforcement model-based regressions and/or Bayesian
updating would be an asset, as are excellent social and writing skills.
The initial deadline for applications is May 31, 2011, although the search
will continue until appropriate candidates have been identified. Start date
can be as early as July 1, 2011, or later. Initial appointments will be for
2 years, with consideration for prolongation. Applications should include a
CV, a list of publications, a half page description of research experience
related to the projects stated above, a half page description ofresearch
interests, and contact details of two referees. Please address applications
for work on healthy humans to Prof Wolfram Schultz, Department of
Physiology, Development & Neuroscience, University of Cambridge, UK,
ws234 at cam.ac.uk. Please address applications for the clinical post to Prof
Paul Fletcher, Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge, UK,
pcf22 at cam.ac.uk.
