Lecturer in Vision Sciences with expertise in Neuroscience
Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) is redefining how a university works through innovation in learning, creativity in research and a distinctive social mission ‘for the common good’. As one of the UK’s most dynamic and responsive universities, we are building on Scotland’s proud history of innovation and intellectual curiosity to support leading areas of international excellence in applied research that deliver practical benefits to society. GCU has made a strategic commitment to the highest quality of world-class research across all its disciplines. As part of this strategy the School of Heath and Life Sciences, wishes to make an appointment to an outstanding researcher in the area of clinical neuroscience of vision and/or rehabilitation.
Promising candidates in the fields of visual psychophysics, optometry, neuroscience or rehabilitation who would be
interested in applying their special knowledge in an area of major public health importance are encouraged to apply.
Exciting opportunities will exist to develop cross-disciplinary collaborations that will build towards an integrated approach to visual function and rehabilitation in a stimulating environment for clinical and academic vision research. Interdisciplinary scientists combining multiple approaches are particularly encouraged to apply.
A Ph.D. or MD in a relevant discipline is required, as successful applicants as well as conducting research in neuroscience that augments and complements our existing strengthens are expected to lead their own research program and teach. Teaching and postdoctoral experience is therefore strongly preferred. Candidates should show excellence in scholarly research and publication and must demonstrate potential to acquire external grant funding.
