Apologies for multiple postings
Dear Visionlist members,
A **Doctoral research position**
is available in a project funded by the *European Research Council*
(ERC), on an *ERC Starting Grant*.
The position will be based at the future *Laboratoire de Neurosciences
Cognitives* (LNC, CNRS & Aix-Marseille Université, Marseille) and the
future *Institut de Neurosciences de la Timone* (INT, CNRS &
Aix-Marseille Université, Marseille). The position will start in
September 2011. Applications will be considered until end of July.
**Research topics:** The goals of the present project are to better
characterize the role of cognitive control on perceptual decisions.
This issue will mainly be approached through experimental psychology
techniques (reaction time, psychophysics) augmented with
neurophysiological methods, such as high resolution EEG and MEG,
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), and functional MRI, as well as
high-resolution eye movement recordings in some cases.
The two research units involved in this project (LNC and INT) are
embedded in a rich neuroscientific environment, with active
collaborations, both at the national and international level. The LNC
owns several high resolution EEG systems (from 64 to 128 electrodes),
two single pulse and one dual pulse TMS machines, coupled with a
neuronavigation and a robotized device (see
http://www.ant-neuro.com/products/visor/robotized-tms/). The INT owns
state-of-the art eye-tracker devices. Both units also have access to a
3T fMRI machine devoted to research, and to a MEG machine.
**Requirements:** Applicants should hold a Master in Experimental
Psychology, Cognitive Sciences or Neuroscience. Applications of students
with a different scientific background (Computer Sciences, Physics,
Mathematics, Engineering) showing strong interest for experimental
approaches in Neuroscience will also be considered. Whatever the origin
of the candidate, programming skills will be a big plus and interest for
the computational approach to the neuroscience will be also positively
evaluated.
To apply, please send a full CV, in electronic form, to :
