Dear Colleague:

 

We are writing to seek your help in identifying potential candidates for a
key leadership position in the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine
and Public Health.  We seek qualified applications for the position of Chair
of the Department of Neuroscience. 

 

The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is forming
a new Department of Neuroscience, incorporating faculty from the former
departments of Anatomy and Physiology.  This new department will consolidate
the strengths in research and teaching in neuroscience, an important area of
biomedical research within the School of Medicine and Public Health.  The
new department will strive for excellence in research and will bring
together investigators studying fundamental processes, using the information
obtained to develop therapeutic interventions in the treatment of human
disease.

 

The Department of Neuroscience has 31 faculty members.   We seek a
recognized leader with an outstanding academic background, including strong
research credentials, demonstrated commitment to education, experience in
mentoring junior faculty, and proven leadership and management skills.
Candidates must have a PhD degree or equivalent and must have academic
credentials for a tenured faculty appointment at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison.



We would very much appreciate receiving any recommendations you are willing
to forward regarding potential candidates, as well as your help in alerting
those who may be interested in becoming candidates.  Nominations and
