Postdoctoral Fellowship in Vision Research

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the Smith Laboratory
at University of Pennsylvania to study the performance of ganglion cells and
their presynaptic microcircuitry. Projects include physiological recordings
and computational modeling of outer and inner retinal circuitry.

Candidates for the position should have a PhD in neuroscience, physiology,
computer science, or a related field and several years experience with
physiological recordings and/or computational modeling. Experience with patch
clamp recording and computational modeling of retinal circuitry are desirable.
Applicants should have good quantitative and computer skills, and enjoy doing
experiments.

The laboratory is a part of the Retina Group in the Department of
Neuroscience, which includes several faculty who specialize in retinal
circuitry. It is also part of the Mahoney Institute for Neurological Sciences
(http://www.med.upenn.edu/ins/), which includes outstanding faculty, students,
and postdocs from multiple departments. Philadelphia is a fun place to live,
with tremendous resources such as museums, historical sites, orchestra, access
to nearby parks for recreation, and a large variety of excellent restaurants.

Interested applicants should send a CV, statement of research interests and
background, and the names of three referees to Robert Smith, PhD., Research
Associate Professor, Department of Neuroscience, University of Pennsylvania.
