Postdoctoral position in bio-inspired image processing at I3S (Université Nice Sophia Antipolis and CNRS) and INRIA Sophia-Méditerranée, France

From the salamander retina to computer vision:
How to interpret the neural code to identify image and video categories?

A full-time postdoctoral position is available to work jointly at I3S-UNS-CNRS (http://www.i3s.unice.fr) and INRIA Sophia Antipolis-Méditerranée (http://www-sop.inria.fr). The goal of this postdoc is to show how retinal processing can be exploited in order to identify the category of the corresponding visual stimuli (images or videos).
It is a multidisciplinary project involving three research groups from computer science, computational neuroscience and neuroscience. 

The candidate should have a strong motivation in developing image processing methods in an interdisciplinary research project. The position is for 1 year and the starting date should be October 1st, 2011 or as soon as possible. 
I3S laboratory and INRIA are located in Sophia Antipolis between Nice and Cannes on the French Riviera.
