*PhD or post-doc position in Neuroscience*
Plasticity of visual representations – what is the influence of
feedback connections and neuromodulation on plasticity in the visual
cortex?
A position for a PhD-student or post-doc is available to study the
neural correlates of neuronal plasticity in rodents at the Netherlands
Institute for Neuroscience in Amsterdam. The candidate will work with
Christiaan Levelt, Pieter Roelfsema and Alexander Heimel.
Sensory experience can rewire the visual cortex. Is this plasticity
under the control of feedback connections from higher cortical areas
and what is the precise role of the neuromodulators like
acetylcholine? The project will investigate these questions in the
alert mouse by using electrophysiology in combination with
optogenetics and pharmacology.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in neuroscience,
preferably with experience in neurophysiology and/or strong
programming skills.
The position involves a temporary appointment for 3 (postdoc) or 4
years (PhD student).
To apply, please send application letter, CV and two letters of
recommendation to: Dr. J. Alexander Heimel, the Netherlands Institute
for Neuroscience, Meibergdreef 47, 1105 BA Amsterdam, The Netherlands,
Telephone: +31-20-56664529, Email: heimel at nin.knaw.nl
