Robert Iskander of Wroclaw University of Technology (WUT) has an industry
funded Postdoctoral Fellowship position to work on a new design of a corneal
topographer. The position, initially available for one year only, is
supported by a grant from EAGLET Optronics BV, Holland.

DUTY STATEMENT
Purpose of Position
The appointee will work with Professor Robert Iskander on the developments
of a unique prototype instrument allowing extension of the anterior ocular
surface measurement beyond the limbal region. The prototype is termed the
Eye Surface Profiler (ESP) and it is based on its precursor - the Maastricht
Topographer. Ideally, the appointee will have a PhD in Physics, Signal/Image
Processing or Visual Optics.
Duties include:
1. Design, build and test optical systems to measure total topography
of the anterior eye.
2. Design, develop and manage the collection, collation and storage of
experimental data.
3. Cooperate with other members of the research team.
4. Prepare and publish research outcomes in relevant referred
international journals and present research at seminars and conferences.
5. Be accountable for complying with health and safety policies,
procedures, hazard reporting and safe work practices at WUT.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential:
1. Completion (or near completion) of a PhD in Physics, Signal/Image
Processing or Visual Optics or completion of a Master Degree in one of those
fields combined with a substantial industry experience oriented on
ophthalmic instrumentation.
2. Experience in the field of optics and image analysis.
3. Proficiency in Matlab.
4. Demonstrated experience in outcome oriented conduct of research.
Desirable:
1. Experience in conducting ophthalmic research experiments.
2. Experience in using statistical analysis software.
