Job Title: Assistant Professor, Neuroscience
 
Background: Loyola University Chicago, College of Arts and Sciences,
Department of Psychology invites applications for a full-time,
tenure-track position in Neuroscience at the rank of Assistant
Professor, beginning Fall 2012, pending final approval of funding.  We
are particularly interested in applicants whose research involves the
study of the neural basis of behavior using either behavioral or
cognitive neuroscience methods.  The department currently has 25 tenured
and tenure-track faculty, serves 1,000 undergraduate majors,supports an
Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Minor with 175 students, and has three
Ph.D. training tracks organized around two areas of focus: (1) the
Psychological Foundations of Social Justice (the Social Psychology
Training Track) and (2) Healthy Development in Children, Youth, and
Families (a Developmental Training Track and an APA-approved Clinical

Duties and Responsibilities: The successful applicant will clearly
demonstrate (a) the ability to maintain a vigorous, ongoing program of
research and publication, (b) the potential to secure external grant
funding to support that research, and (c) the ability to contribute in a
significant way to the department’s teaching mission at both the
undergraduate and graduate levels, which includes engaging excellent
undergraduate students who are preparing for careers in research and
medicine.
 
Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience, or related
field, a strong record of productive research, and a commitment to
excellence in teaching at all levels.  Preference will be given to
applicants who can also contribute in a meaningful way to one of our
three established training tracks.
