A postdoctoral position funded by the NIH is immediately available at
the Vision Center Laboratory of the Salk Institute in San Diego, for a
project that involves psychophysics and single-cell physiology in awake
non-human primates. The project, led by Thomas D. Albright and Sergei
Gepshtein, addresses adaptive mechanisms of motion sensitivity, with the
emphasis on adaptation-induced changes of receptive field selectivity in
motion-sensitive cortical areas V1 and MT, using state-of-the-art
intensive methods of data acquisition.
Desirable qualifications include considerable experience and
independence in single-cell recording, enthusiasm for sensory
psychophysics, and interest in mathematical modeling of neural function.
Starting time, duration and salary are flexible. Candidates may be
interviewed at the upcoming SfN meeting in Washington, DC. If
interested, please send your CV and contact details of two referees to
Maria Pacheco at mpacheco at salk.edu.
