Applications are invited from students interested in working in the laboratory of Dr. James Ferwerda as part of M.S. or Ph.D. study in Color Science in the Munsell Color Science Laboratory at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

The positions are for students interested in pursuing study and research in one or more of the following areas: material appearance; perceptually-based rendering; advanced display systems; and low vision and assistive technologies. 

Applications are invited from candidates with undergraduate degrees in subjects related to the research including
computer science, computer graphics, experimental psychology, applied mathematics, or engineering. Applicants with prior experience in the research areas listed above or with strong software and/or hardware development skills are especially encouraged to apply. Assistantships and scholarships are available for qualified students to cover tuition and living expenses.

The M.S. and Ph.D. degree programs in Color Science are centered around the activities of the Munsell Color Science Laboratory (MCSL) within the Center for Imaging Science at RIT. The MCSL is the pre-eminent academic laboratory in the U.S. devoted to the study of Color Science, and for more than 25 years its faculty and staff have trained students and conducted cutting-edge research in the field.
