Position Summary:
This position is intended to function as a Laboratory Manager in a newly 
established retinal imaging lab of Dr. Jennifer Hunter in the Flaum Eye 
Institute.  Under general guidance and with latitude for exercising 
independent scientific judgment, perform research related activities on 
projects involving high resolution retinal imaging (Adaptive Optics 
Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscopy) in humans and possibly other species.  
Responsibilities will range from laboratory organization (inventory and 
staff coordination) to overall organization of laboratory experiments, 
to imaging preparation and data collection, management, processing and 
presentation.

Provides direct research and teaching support at the professional entry 
level in the J. Hunter research laboratory, part of the Advanced Retinal 
Imaging Alliance (ARIA).  This will include, but is not limited to 
providing training and oversight to other technicians, 
undergraduate/graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.  Initially, 
all tasks will be assigned by J. Hunter, but with the expectation that 
with increased experience, independence will increase and much work will 
become self-directed.

Qualifications:
The position requires an Associate's degree in an appropriate discipline 
plus 4-5 years specialized experience in a related field.  Prefer 
Bachelor's degree with major course work in optical engineering or 
related field, and 1 year of related work experience involving direct 
assistance to researchers; or any equivalent combination of experience, 
training and education.   Also the candidate should have a proven 
history with numerous optical techniques and image processing.  An ideal 
candidate would have a proven history working in a laboratory and 
demonstrates carefulness, attention to detail, and meticulous record 
keeping.  Experience with management and studying optics and vision is 
preferred.
