We have positions for a graduate student and research assistant in our Perception in Action group at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia, details below. Please send on to potential candidates!

Thanks,

Anina

PhD student

A 3.5 year Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship is available to support a PhD student working with Dr. Alexandra Woolgar, Dr. Anina Rich, and Associate Professor Mark Williams at the ARC Centre of Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders, Macquarie University, Sydney.

The student will investigate the neural mechanisms of attention and cognitive control. The work will involve studies related to a new Australian Research Council Discovery Project grant, which uses cutting-edge brain imaging techniques (pattern analysis in fMRI and MEG) to examine how information from our senses is selected and processed in the brain. The wider project also involves overseas collaboration with Professor John Duncan (Cambridge, UK).

The student will be hosted in the Cognitive Science department (previously known as the Macquarie Centre for Cognitive Science, MACCS) which is part of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders, Australia’s premier centre for research in cognitive science. It provides extensive facilities including access to fMRI and MEG, psychophysical testing, and an excellent intellectual environment.
We are particularly looking for candidates with experience, or keen interest, in human functional imaging (particularly fMRI), and a strong experimental background.

Enquiries: Dr. Alexandra Woolgar, alexandra.woolgar at mq.edu.au or +61 (0) 2 9850 8765
Package: The scholarship is for $23,728 pa tax exempt for 3.5 years. The position must be taken up in 2012.
