Job Description:
A clinical research post-doctoral position is available starting April or May,
working with Drs. Gislin Dagnelie and Ava Bittner (Department of
Ophthalmology, Johns Hopkins University; Wilmer Eye Institute) to assist
with two new research projects.
One project will study the natural course of visual field progression in patients
with Leber Congenital Amaurosis (LCA) based on retrospective review of test
results obtained from retinal specialists at academic research centers. The
second project will validate recently developed vision tests (e.g. Octopus
kinetic perimetry; color vision) for use in clinical trials for patients with LCA or
retinitis pigmentosa.
The candidate must hold a MD, OD or PhD degree, and have a background
in Ophthalmology, Optometry or vision research.
Qualifications:
Candidates with strong communication skills, who are highly motivated to
learn about vision measures in patients with inherited retinal diseases and
have experience with visually impaired patients in clinical or research settings
are encouraged to apply. The applicant should be able to execute research
activities including literature study, subject recruitment, data collection,
evaluation, analyses, and manuscript synthesis. Applicants must have
current legal status to work in the US.
