Post-doctoral Research Associate position available in the Visual Cognition
Laboratory of Professor Lester Loschky at Kansas State University.



This one-year postdoctoral researcher position, starting in Aug/Sept 2012,
is funded by grants from the Office of Naval Research (ONR) and the
National Science Foundation (NSF).  Renewal beyond one year is possible
based on mutual agreement and funding contingencies.



We are looking for a Post-doctoral Research Associate to collaborate on
interdisciplinary research in visual cognition, with an emphasis on visual
attention.  The successful candidate will collaborate in designing,
implementing, analyzing, and publishing studies in visual cognition.  The
two primary projects involve the study of visual attention over space and
time using a combination of eyetracking and covert attention paradigms, and
are interdisciplinary in nature.  One project is focused on development of
a novel method of measuring attentional breadth in real-world scenes as a
function of cognitive load using gaze-contingent multi-resolutional
displays.  This project is in collaboration with researchers at the Beckman
Institute at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the University
of Central Florida, and Concordia University in Montreal.  The other
project focuses on how problem solving in Physics is affected by learners’
visual attention, influenced by both knowledge and visual salience, and is
in collaboration with colleagues in Physics Education at Kansas State
University.



Candidates should have a PhD in cognitive psychology, human factors, or a
related area, and experience with eyetracking methods and data
analysis.  Candidates
