We are looking for a research assistant/a lab manager for the face categorization lab (http://www.nefy.ucl.ac.be/Face_Categorisation_Lab.htm) (Prof. Bruno Rossion), at the University of Louvain http://www.uclouvain.be/en-universite.html), Belgium.

Studies that take place in the lab involve behavioral, eye movement recordings, event-related potentials (ERPs) and fMRI studies of face perception.

The responsibilities include recruiting and assisting in running typical participants as well as special populations (e.g., infants, children, rare cases of patients with face recognition impairment following brain damage – prosopagnosia), performing maintenance of laboratory equipment, collection and preparation of material for experiments (face photographs mainly), data analyses, possibly training and supervising undergraduate students. The position is ideal for a recent undergraduate who wishes to experience visual/cognitive neuroscience research prior to apply to a graduate or medical school and provides a unique opportunity to experience a broad program of research in an international laboratory.

Candidates should have an undergraduate degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biology or related fields, familiarity and ease with computers and strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Expertise with programming, prior independent research experience, and/or statistics is desirable. Although members of the lab interact in English, a knowledge of French is an advantage for subject recruitment and running. Thus the willingness to learn French is important.

The appointment is for 2 years (renewable).
