Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Neuroscience of Autistic Tendency
- Faculty of Life and Social Sciences, located at the Hawthorn campus
- Salary: $55,640 - $75,289 plus 17% superannuation
- Full-time, fixed-term position from June 2012 – December 2013
The Visual Neuroscience group at Swinburne is embarking on a research
project to investigate the neuroscience of autistic tendencies, within
the ambit of an NHMRC grant. This has presented the opportunity for a
Research Fellow to join the team and assist the Chief Investigators in
designing and developing experimentation to assess the neuroscientific
mechanisms and underlying anomalies in autistic behaviour and
perception.
You will have the opportunity to work with both children and adults
with varying levels of autistic tendency, including those clinically
diagnosed. You will be able to utilise a range of techniques and
equipment, including:
- Psychophysics,
- MRI/fMRI,
- Magnetoencephalography,
- TMS, and
- EEG
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role you will need to have completed a PhD in
a related field and have the ability to design and conduct independent
research projects within a broader team environment and meet deadlines.
It is preferable that you also have experience in image analysis using
MRI, MEG and TMS and carrying out research with children.
A Working with Children Check is essential for this role.
