Think about that puzzling patient that you examined recently. At Academy 2012 Phoenix, you can attend the class that will help you optimally treat that patient, or you can share the case with your colleagues via a poster presentation!

Submission Window Closes May 31

Did you know that the most unique aspect of the American Academy of Optometry annual meeting—one that no other optometric meeting offers—is the continuing education credit that you can earn while attending the Scientific Program? Learn about the newest scientific advances, often before they are available in peer-reviewed journals.

Scientific Program sessions consist of programmatic themes (contact lenses, vision rehabilitation, posterior segment health, etc.), with 15-minute presentations on a variety of topics presented by educators, scientists, and clinicians.

Last year, we implemented introductory presentations in a couple of sessions to orient attendees to the significant advances that have been pioneered by vision researchers, in order to provide perspective and illustrate the changes that advancements have made in patient care.

What Can You Do to Improve the Scientific Program?
Easy – submit an abstract to the Scientific Program Committee to present as a paper or poster in Phoenix. The window for submitting abstracts to the 2012 Scientific Program is May 1–31.
Abstracts are not limited to scientific investigations. Case reports that illustrate innovative treatments, unreported associations, or new findings are also vital parts of the Scientific Program.
Have you hesitated to submit an abstract because you don't know how to write one?
You can learn more about writing scientific abstracts and case reports on the Academy website<http://www.aaopt.org/meetings/academy2012/Education/PapersPosters> (go to the link under “Preparing Your Abstract for Submission,”) or by attending a lecture on this topic at the meeting in Phoenix.
